Anamorphic De-Squeeze – Quick Guide
See your final frame after de-squeezing with the anamorphic calculator.
Basics
Anamorphic lenses squeeze the image horizontally. De-squeezing multiplies the recorded width by the lens squeeze factor.
How to use
Enter recorded width and height in pixels. Choose a squeeze factor or type a custom value. The calculator returns the true width, aspect ratio, and a live preview.
Example
Shoot 4096x1716 with a 1.5x lens? The tool shows 6144x1716 after de-squeeze, which you can crop down to 2.39:1.
Popular factors
- 1.33x – quick scope look on 16:9 sensors
- 1.5x – pairs with 4:3 or open gate for flexible crops
- 2.0x – classic cinemascope squeeze
Tips
Label clips with the squeeze factor. When you make proxies, note whether they are still squeezed. Use the preview to frame safe areas for titles.
