Field of View & Crop Factor β Quick Guide
Compare lenses on different sensors in seconds with the FOV & crop factor calculator.
Basics
Crop factor compares your sensor size to full frame (36x24 mm). Multiply focal length by the crop factor to get the full-frame equivalent.
Pick a sensor
Choose a preset sensor or enter width and height in the calculator. Full frame equals 1.0, Super 35 is about 1.5, and Micro Four Thirds is 2.0.
Example
Try 25 mm on a Super 35 preset inside the calculator. You will see an equivalent of about 37 mm and the horizontal angle of view.
Use cases
- Match a lens kit between camera bodies
- Check framing before you rent glass
- Plan anamorphic crops with the reference sensor toggle
Tips
Measure custom sensors in millimeters. Set a new reference sensor when you need to compare against something other than full frame.
