Slow Motion Calculator β Quick Guide
Need to know how slow a clip will play? Use the slow motion calculator.
Basics
Shoot FPS is the frame rate captured by the camera. Playback FPS is the timeline rate. Slow motion happens when shoot FPS is higher than playback FPS.
Quick steps
Open the calculator, enter shoot FPS, enter playback FPS, then press Calculate. The tool shows the slow-down factor, percent speed, and clip duration.
Example
Type 120 for shoot FPS and 24 for playback inside the calculator. You get video that plays five times slower at 20% speed.
Common uses
- Plan B-roll speed ramps
- Estimate how long a slow shot runs in the edit
- Check whether 60 fps footage still looks slow at 24 fps
Tips
Record clean audio separately when you shoot higher than your timeline FPS. Note the slow-down factor so you can match it later.
